President Bola Tinubu has approved free train rides across the country from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, as part of efforts to reduce transportation costs during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In a statement to State House correspondents in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, confirmed that the initiative would allow Nigerians to travel for free on trains during the two-week period.
Idris explained, “In line with last year’s initiative, the President has approved free train services for all Nigerians from December 20 to January 5. This move is aimed at alleviating transportation costs, particularly for vulnerable citizens.”
He added that similar measures were implemented during the previous Christmas and Sallah periods, and the President has once again approved this gesture for the current year.
