Gov. Sule addresses El-Rufai’s alleged rift with APC

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has addressed rumors surrounding former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s alleged fallout with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his failed ministerial appointment.

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels TV program, Governor Sule dismissed claims that El-Rufai has abandoned the ruling party.

“El-Rufai has not left our party; he remains a part of the APC,” Sule stated on Wednesday evening. “It’s premature to speculate that someone’s exit would lead to the collapse of the party.”

Governor Sule further disclosed that he has not been in contact with El-Rufai since he left office, admitting, “I don’t know his current activities, his location, or anything about his movements.”

On the issue of El-Rufai’s unsuccessful ministerial nomination, Sule emphasized that such decisions are entirely at the discretion of President Bola Tinubu.

El-Rufai’s bid for a ministerial position was blocked after he failed to secure Senate approval during the screening process.

Reports suggest that the former governor holds President Tinubu accountable for this setback and is allegedly preparing to challenge Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Additionally, El-Rufai is said to be in conflict with his successor, Governor Uba Sani, further fueling speculation about his political future.
