The Imo State Police Command has arrested three individuals for being in possession of a human skull along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway in Oguii community, Owerri.

The suspects, identified as Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20), were paraded by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, on Wednesday.

According to the police, a preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects, Patrick Okoere, claimed his uncle, Osunta Oko, had instructed him to obtain a human skull.

Patrick stated that he had found the skull along a riverbank on the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway, an area known for reported kidnapping cases.

The arrest was made by Okigwe divisional police operatives in partnership with residents of Oguii community on February 3, 2025. The suspects were also found with a native hen and white garments.

The police are now searching for Osunta Oko and other possible accomplices. A DNA test is also underway to identify the owner of the skull.

Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, assured the public that the police would continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of residents and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He confirmed that the suspects would face prosecution after the investigation is concluded.
