A 43-year-old man, Mutiu Yekini, was on Monday arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly receiving a stolen vehicle.
Yekini, whose address was not disclosed, is facing charges related to the receipt of stolen property. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the offence took place in October 2024 in the Liberty area of Ibadan. He alleged that Yekini knowingly received a stolen Toyota Camry valued at N1.5 million from one Oluwasegun Soyemi. The vehicle was reportedly stolen from its rightful owner, Emmanuel Adeoye.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, violates Section 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in the same amount. The case was adjourned to April 6 for hearing.
