Three men, Abdul Sanni, 20, Idris Sabiu, 32, and Bala Yohana, 41, were arraigned on Thursday before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court over allegations of vandalizing and stealing drainage cover slabs worth N10 million.

Appearing before Magistrate Funke Ogun, the defendants faced charges of conspiracy, stealing, and willful damage.

They pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, the alleged offences took place on March 26 along the Trade Fair-Iba Expressway.

The defendants were accused of conspiring to destroy drainage slabs owned by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation by breaking them with a hammer.

They were also alleged to have stolen the iron rods used in the construction of the slabs.

The police arrested the suspects, and they were charged under Sections 287, 350, and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

The court granted each defendant bail at N500,000, requiring two sureties of equal sum. The case was adjourned to May 6 for further hearing.
