The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
DAILY POST reports that Amaewhule, along with 15 other members of the House, made the move on Friday.
Amaewhule said the defection is due to clear division in the PDP.
The development comes months after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state in March, suspending Governor Sim Fubara, his Deputy, and members of the State Assembly.
