A fresh disagreement has emerged between Christian entertainers and brothers, Femi Ajewole, popularly known as Alfa Sule, and Ayo Ajewole, better known as Woli Agba, over the ownership and identity of their late father’s church.
The controversy came to the fore after Alfa Sule alleged that the church founded by their late father had been renamed and that several references to the founder had been removed.
The development has revived interest in the brothers’ long association with the Christ Chosen Vessels Dance Drama Ministry, which brought them prominence through a combination of Christian drama, comedy and evangelism.
Alfa Sule, an evangelist, actor and founder of the ministry, worked with his younger brother for several years before their professional relationship ended.
Woli Agba later became a prominent comedian and skit maker, gaining a wider audience through comedy, filmmaking and social media productions.
Speaking about their separation in a 2022 interview, Woli Agba said he did not willingly abandon his elder brother or the ministry, explaining that Alfa Sule had asked him to leave.
He said the development was painful because he had spent about 15 years working with his brother and had relied on him financially during that period.
Woli Agba also said members of his family tried to intervene after he was asked to leave, stressing that he had no intention of abandoning his elder brother.
However, Alfa Sule recently offered a different account of the circumstances surrounding their separation.
Appearing on The Ajibola Akinyefa Podcast, Alfa Sule said he believed he had received divine direction to allow his younger brother to pursue his own path.
He also claimed that he had supported Woli Agba over the years, including assisting with his education and other aspects of his development.
The latest disagreement, however, centres on their late father’s church rather than the brothers’ former working relationship.
Alfa Sule said their father established the church and that he continued to support its activities after his death without claiming personal ownership of it.
According to him, he was concerned after learning that the church had allegedly been renamed and subsequently visiting the premises.
He claimed that the new identity of the church had left little visible connection to their late father and his original vision.
Alfa Sule said he was particularly troubled by the alleged removal of references to their father but insisted that he was not interested in engaging his younger brother in a public fight over the matter.
He maintained that the church represented their father’s vision, while acknowledging that he also had his own ministry and direction.
The allegations remain based on Alfa Sule’s account, as Woli Agba had not publicly responded to the specific claims concerning the alleged renaming or takeover of the church at the time of the report.
Despite their professional separation, Woli Agba had previously maintained that he still loved his elder brother and remained willing to respond whenever he reached out.
The controversy has therefore placed renewed attention on the brothers’ relationship, their years in Christian entertainment and the unresolved questions surrounding their late father’s church.
