Grammy-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Talay Riley, has been killed following a stabbing incident in East London, United Kingdom.

The musician, born Mark Yinka Orabiyi, died at the age of 35 after sustaining fatal injuries during the attack, which reportedly occurred on Friday morning in the Silvertown area of the city.

According to local media reports, emergency responders were called to Pankhurst Avenue shortly after the incident was reported around 9 a.m. Despite efforts by paramedics to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have since launched a murder investigation, with homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command leading efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Confirming the tragic development, the singer’s family expressed deep sorrow over his passing and paid tribute to his life and achievements.

In a statement, the family described Riley as a gifted musician whose impact extended beyond the music industry.

They noted that while many admirers would remember him for his accomplishments as a Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum-selling songwriter and performer, those closest to him would cherish memories of his humour, kindness and vibrant personality.

The family also expressed appreciation for the support and condolences received from members of the public since news of the incident emerged.

Riley built a reputation as a talented songwriter and recording artist, contributing to several successful music projects during his career and earning international recognition for his work.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing, while authorities continue efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the fatal attack.
