A 38-year-old woman, identified as Susuti Denhan, has been found dead with her head severed from her body in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident has sparked concern among residents of the community, coming days after another suspected ritual killing was reported in the same area.
The latest incident reportedly occurred in Unguwan Abuja, Girei, on Friday, August 21, with the woman’s body discovered the following day.
According to information gathered on Saturday, Denhan, who was said to be deaf, left her residence on Friday but failed to return home.
Worried by her disappearance, members of her family reportedly organised a search party to locate her.
The search eventually led them to a mountain in the area, where they reportedly discovered the woman’s lifeless body with her head missing.
The circumstances surrounding the killing remained unclear as of the time of filing this report, while the whereabouts and identity of the suspected perpetrator were also unknown.
The incident has heightened fears among residents, particularly because it occurred in the same community where another suspected ritual killing was reportedly recorded earlier in the week.
Residents are expected to rely on security agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the latest killing and bring those responsible to justice.
The Adamawa State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of Saturday evening.
Efforts to obtain the command’s reaction to the killing were reportedly unsuccessful before the report was filed.
