The wife of Delta State content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, has denied allegations that her husband raped 20-year-old Favour Agbro, insisting that the relationship between them was an affair.
The woman, who did not disclose her name, spoke in a video shared on Ogbonna’s social media page on Wednesday, saying she remained firmly behind her husband despite the allegations surrounding the death of the young woman.
Ogbonna, 40, was arrested by the Delta State Police Command following allegations that he raped Favour, who later died after ingesting a toxic substance.
The police had alleged that Ogbonna invited Favour to Asaba under the pretext of training her in content creation and subsequently took her to a hotel, where she was allegedly assaulted and raped.
However, his wife dismissed the rape allegation, saying her husband was involved in an affair with Favour but did not sexually assault her.
She said, “Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl.”
The woman said she had closely followed developments in the case before deciding to speak publicly, adding that her loyalty to her husband would not change because of the controversy.
She said, “No matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100 per cent. I’m not going to turn my back on him.”
She also cautioned against relying on social media narratives to determine guilt or innocence, stressing that the matter should be allowed to follow due legal process.
“Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind,” she said, adding that she had learnt more about the circumstances surrounding the case before making her comments.
The woman acknowledged the death of Favour and said the development required caution, but maintained that her husband was not responsible for the young woman’s death.
According to the police, Favour travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna allegedly offered to teach her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook accounts through content creation.
The command said Favour later returned home distressed and reportedly told her parents about the alleged incident before making a video detailing her experience.
She subsequently ingested a toxic substance and died while undergoing treatment.
The police said Ogbonna’s arrest followed a petition from Favour’s family and that investigations were ongoing.
The command also indicated that the content creator would be charged to court.
Ogbonna has not been convicted of any offence, while the rape allegation remains under investigation and subject to determination by the appropriate authorities.
