Bandits have reportedly killed a resident and abducted the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, in the third consecutive day of attacks on communities in the state.

The latest incident occurred at Beli village, Rogo LGA, when the gunmen reportedly stormed the community around 1am on Tuesday and opened fire.

A source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Daily Post that the attackers went directly to the residence of the APC chairman, Alhaji Audu Fanka Salisu Yahaya, forced their way inside and whisked him away.

The source added that a young resident was shot during the attack and died instantly, while several others were reportedly injured.

“They came in, firing sporadically, and went straight to the chairman’s house. They broke down the door, brought him out and took him away,” the source said.

Yahaya is said to be a close associate of the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, who hails from Rogo Local Government Area.

Residents of the affected community also reportedly raised the alarm on social media, calling on security agencies and the government to urgently intervene.

The attack came barely 24 hours after suspected bandits invaded Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area, where two people were reportedly killed.

On Sunday, another attack was said to have occurred in Chiromawa, Garin Malam Local Government Area, where three residents were allegedly killed and an elderly man abducted.

The abducted man was later reported to have escaped from his captors.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Kano State, with residents calling for increased security presence in vulnerable communities.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement confirming the latest attack or the reported abduction of the APC chairman.
