A police inspector attached to the Sokoto State Command, Adamu Isah, has died after reportedly collapsing shortly after participating in the command’s weekly fitness exercise.
Isah, who was attached to the Department of Operations, was said to have returned to the command headquarters after the Wednesday walkathon when he suddenly became unconscious.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention, but medical personnel later confirmed that he had died.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Shaffa, described the officer’s death as a painful loss to the command, noting that Isah was a committed and courageous policeman.
Shaffa said the deceased served the command with professionalism and dedication and would be greatly missed by his colleagues.
The commissioner also disclosed that Isah was actively involved in sporting activities, particularly as a member of the command’s volleyball team and a boxer.
According to him, the late inspector’s discipline, energy and team spirit made him a valued member of the command.
Shaffa extended his condolences to Isah’s family, friends and colleagues, assuring the deceased’s relatives of the command’s support during the difficult period.
He urged officers and men of the command to remain committed to their duties while drawing strength from the late inspector’s years of service to the nation.
The commissioner also prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to grant his family the strength to cope with the loss.
