A 27-year-old farmer, Sa’idu Aliyu, has expressed mixed feelings after his wife gave birth to triplets in Bara community, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
While celebrating the arrival of the three newborns, Aliyu said he was increasingly worried about how to meet the needs of his enlarged family, having already been responsible for three children before the latest addition.
The triplets were delivered on Tuesday, with the development drawing residents and well-wishers to the health facility to celebrate with the family.
Speaking with Arewa PUNCH, Aliyu, a resident of Bara village, described the babies as a blessing but said his financial situation made the development a source of concern.
He said, “I am happy to receive these children as a gift from God, but I am also concerned about how to provide for everyone. I already have three children, and the arrival of the triplets has increased the number to six.
“My main source of income is small-scale farming, which I depend on to take care of my family. Unfortunately, what I earn from it may not be enough to meet the needs of such a large family.”
Aliyu said the attention generated by the birth had brought joy to the family, with people visiting the hospital to congratulate them and celebrate the unusual arrival.
However, he admitted that beyond the celebrations, the responsibility of caring for three newborns simultaneously was already weighing heavily on him.
“People have been coming to the hospital to celebrate with us, and we appreciate their happiness.
“But deep down, I know that taking care of three babies at once will not be easy because my income is limited,”
