The Bauchi State Governor and National Leader of the Allied Peoples Movement, Bala Mohammed, has cautioned Nigerians and political opponents against underestimating the presidential candidate of the party, Seyi Makinde, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mohammed gave the warning on Monday in Abuja during the opening of the APM presidential campaign office, where he declared that the party was determined to make a serious impact in the forthcoming presidential race.
He said the campaign office, funded by the party’s presidential candidate, was an indication of the seriousness attached to the APM’s bid to win the presidency and introduce what he described as a reset of the country.
The governor said Makinde had distinguished himself through his performance in Oyo State, particularly in the management of resources and execution of development projects.
He described the candidate as an experienced administrator, resource manager, engineer and political mobiliser, insisting that his achievements were evidence of his capacity to provide effective leadership.
Mohammed noted that Makinde inherited areas affected by years of neglect in Oyo State but succeeded in improving infrastructure and driving urban renewal across the state.
He also commended the APM leadership, particularly its chairman, whom he described as a young and accomplished politician with influence beyond the party.
According to the governor, the APM is approaching the 2027 election with a clear objective and should not be dismissed because of the party’s relatively smaller political structure.
Mohammed challenged other political actors to wait for the election campaign to unfold, expressing confidence that Makinde’s record and political reach would attract significant support.
- He said the party would use the campaign period to explain its plans to Nigerians and convince voters that the APM offered a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.
