Nigerian Army has adopted new strategic measures to promptly address the myriad of insecurity challenges in the Northern part of Nigeria and the country at large. The Chief of Army Staff has also given directive for the commencement of major reorganization in the operations of Nigerian Army across the country.

Moreso, the army has introduced Operation Sahel Sanity, a renewed strategy that was formed to decisively combat the challenges of banditry in Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara States and other areas affected by the menace.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Burutai made this disclosure during an operations visit to 3 Brigade Kano on Saturday, June 27, 2020 where he assessed the operational readiness of the Brigade. He also took advantage of the visit to commission blocks of multiple flats for soldiers’ accommodation within the 3 Brigade, Bukavu Barracks in Kano. He equally promised to ensure improved welfare for the personnel of Nigerian Army.

The Army Chief also inspected several ongoing projects within Bukavu barracks as well as the refurbished operational vehicles for better efficiency of the army personnel.

He thereafter, visited 73 Battalion in Janguza Barracks within Kano State where General Burutai was briefed on the operational readiness of the Battalion. He equally inspected all the completed and ongoing projects within the barracks.

Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Major General Usman Mohammed has commended the Chief of Army Staff for the inauguration of accommodation for the army personnel. He described the ongoing barracks face lifting in Nigeria as a reflection of the determination of General Burutai to ensure total transformation of all army barracks across the country. The General Officer Commanding therefore commended the Army Chief for extending the transformation programme to the 3 Brigade and 1 Division of Nigerian Army.

While carrying out the project commissioning, Gen Buratai emphasized that the building of new accommodation and refurbishment of others were in line with his vision to ensure improved welfare for all officers and soldiers, as well as their families.

“This is one of the programmes that we have for our officers and men who are in the battle fronts, sacrificing their time; and some of them paying the supreme sacrifice in order for us to live in peace.
So, we must take care of their families, we must take care of their welfare so that when they return home, they would find very good accommodation”, remarked General Burutai.

However, General Burutai has assured the personnel of Nigerian Army that all ongoing projects in barracks across the country would be fully executed and completed in good time. He likewise urged all the beneficiaries of the new apartments to ensure that the facilities are well maintained.
