Honorable Tomide Akinribido, a prominent voice and Stalwart of the People’s Democracy Party in Ondo State, has called for  immediate investigations into two explosive issues: A N4.3 Billion Naira discovered languishing in a Zenith Bank account for over eleven years, and a N7.3 billion naira Contingency fund approved without due process in 2023.

The N4.3 billion naira saga, dubbed “mysterious” by Akinribido, dates back to 2009. Somehow, an astronomical sum remained untouched for over a decade, shrouded in secrecy and raising serious questions about accountability and transparency.

Its sudden discovery in 2020 sent shockwaves through the state, leaving citizens and netizens yearning for answers.

Adding fuel to the fire is the recent revelation of a N7.3 billion naira contingency fund approved in 2023, bypassing established budgetary procedures. This opaque maneuver has drawn widespread criticism, fueling concerns about potential misuse of public funds in Ondo State.

Hon. Akinribido, through a Statement on has directed his urgent plea towards the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Anti-Fraud Unit.

He implores the esteemed agencies to launch immediate and thorough investigations into both the “mysterious” N4.3 Billion Naira and the controversial N7.3 Billion Naira contingency fund.

“Silence cannot be our response to such blatant disregard for Due Process and Proper Financial management,” says Akinribido.
