Man slumps, dies during early morning jog Tension gripped residents of the Agbonchia community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday after an unidentified man reportedly collapsed and died while jogging.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours along a major road in the neighbourhood, drawing the attention of passersby and other residents.

A video obtained by PUNCH Metro on X captured the moment concerned residents gathered around the man, who lay motionless on the ground.

A voice in the background was heard calling for help and urging anyone who could recognise him to notify his family.

“Someone just collapsed here in Agbonchia, Eleme.

If you know him, please reach out to his relatives. He was jogging before he suddenly fell. There is no pulse,” the voice said in the footage.

Some residents at the scene disclosed that only a few minutes had passed between the time he reportedly fell and when people began to gather.

“It happened about five minutes before people started coming out,” a bystander stated.

The video showed the man lying still on the road, with visible blood stains on his face, as sympathisers stood around in shock.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased had yet to be ascertained, while the circumstances surrounding his sudden collapse remained unclear.

Attempts to get a reaction from the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, were unsuccessful as calls and messages sent to her phone were not responded to.
