Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army have dislodged suspected terrorists from Mansur Village and nearby communities in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, recovering an AK-47 rifle during the operation.

The military said the operation was carried out under Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III as part of ongoing efforts to protect residents and restore peace in the area.

The offensive targeted locations believed to be strongholds of the criminals who had reportedly attempted to establish control in parts of the local government area.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Division, Lt. Col. Olumide Victor Olukoya, said the troops conducted a coordinated assault on the identified hideouts.

According to him, the operation enabled the soldiers to overpower the terrorists and reclaim the affected communities.

He explained that after securing the area, troops carried out a thorough search which led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, thereby weakening the operational capability of the criminals.

Olukoya added that security personnel have intensified patrols across Alkaleri Local Government Area to sustain the gains recorded during the operation and forestall any attempt by the terrorists to regroup.

He noted that the development had also created a safer environment for displaced residents to return to their communities and resume normal socio-economic activities.

Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, commended the troops for their courage and professionalism during the operation.

Oyinlola urged them to sustain the pressure on criminal elements, reiterating the Nigerian Army’s resolve to protect vulnerable communities and maintain peace in Bauchi State.
