President Bola Tinubu has effected a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, removing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yomi Odunuga.

According to the statement, the directive was conveyed in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

The President approved the appointment of Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Also named is Dr Muttaqha Darma as Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development.

The memo directed the outgoing ministers to immediately commence handover to their successors or designated supervising officials.

It added that all handover processes must be completed on or before the close of work on April 23, 2026.

Akume said the changes were part of efforts to strengthen coordination and improve performance across key sectors of the economy in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He noted that the President exercised his constitutional powers in making the adjustments.

The SGF also conveyed the appreciation of the President to the affected ministers for their contributions and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The statement indicated that the process of repositioning the cabinet would be continuous as the administration seeks to enhance service delivery.
