Suspected bandits have abducted a judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the judge’s home along Zogirma Road, shortly after he returned from a trip to Sokoto State.
Sources said the gunmen stormed the residence and whisked the judge away after firing several gunshots, creating panic in the neighbourhood.
According to the sources, no member of the judge’s household was injured during the attack despite the sporadic shooting by the assailants.
The attackers reportedly fled the area with the judge to an unknown destination.
The spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction.
However, the police spokesman did not immediately provide further details on the incident or the measures being taken to secure the judge’s release.
Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted judicial officer and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
