Ex-Oyo council chairman quits APC for APM

A former Chairman of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area in Oyo State, Adekunle Oladeji, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress and joined the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oladeji, who headed the council development area during the administration of former Oyo State Governor, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, confirmed his defection on Saturday.

Aare Latosa LCDA is one of the council development areas under the Ibadan North Local Government Area.

His defection comes despite his father, Alhaji B.A.O. Oladeji, remaining a prominent figure in the APC in Oyo State.

The elder Oladeji previously served as the Oyo South Senatorial District Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, one of the political parties that later merged to form the APC.

Although his father has retained his membership of the APC, the former council chairman has now pitched his tent with the APM.

He has also declared support for the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Confirming the development, Oladeji said reports of his defection were accurate.

He stated that he had officially left the APC for the APM as part of his political plans ahead of the 2027 elections.
