The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has inaugurated a reconciliation committee to address internal differences and reinforce party cohesion as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
The inauguration, conducted by the state APC Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, took place at the party’s secretariat in Akure and was attended by members of the committee, party leaders, the Elders’ Forum and other stakeholders.
Babatunde said the committee was established to reconcile aggrieved members, promote internal harmony and strengthen the party’s structure across the state.
He praised members of the committee for accepting the responsibility and acknowledged the contributions of prominent party elders, including Hon. Jamiu Ekungba and Elder Vincent Oyepata, for their continued support and guidance.
The chairman also expressed confidence in the committee’s leadership under Prince Biyi Poroye, saying his political experience and commitment to the APC’s ideals made him well suited for the assignment.
According to Babatunde, the reconciliation initiative reflects the party’s determination to foster unity, encourage inclusiveness and position the APC for success in future elections.
“Our objective is to unite every member of the party and ensure that all grievances are resolved. We remain focused on building a stronger APC capable of securing victory for President Bola Tinubu and all our candidates in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Poroye thanked the party leadership and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the confidence reposed in the members, assuring that they would discharge their responsibilities with fairness and integrity.
He said the committee would consult widely with party stakeholders and ensure that all concerns affecting the party’s unity were addressed without prejudice.
“We are committed to a transparent and inclusive reconciliation process. Every genuine member of the APC will have the opportunity to be heard as we work towards restoring confidence and strengthening the bond within the party,” Poroye said.
In his remarks, Ekungba described the inauguration of the committee as a strategic move, expressing confidence that its members would carry out their assignment diligently.
He urged party faithful to support the reconciliation process, saying unity, cooperation and collective sacrifice remained essential to sustaining the APC’s electoral strength in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 polls.
