A fire outbreak disrupted activities at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday, prompting an emergency response by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
FAAN confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official X handle, assuring the public that firefighters had been deployed to contain the blaze.
According to the authority, its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service immediately responded to the emergency and was working to bring the situation under control.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Our Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” the statement said.
FAAN disclosed that no casualties or loss of life had been recorded in connection with the incident.
The authority added that investigations and emergency response efforts were ongoing and assured passengers and other airport users that additional information would be released as it becomes available.
The cause of the fire had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.
