Three children have been found dead at the residence of a female native doctor in Ideani community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, in an incident that has left residents in shock.
The bodies were reportedly discovered at the suspect’s home in Umuoduba village, while a fourth person found on the premises was rescued alive and rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Sources in the community said the deceased children, believed to be between six and 15 years old, had yet to be identified as of the time of filing this report.
The exact circumstances surrounding their deaths also remain unclear.
Residents, however, speculated that the victims were either children working for the woman, who is said to be involved in pig and poultry farming, or members of her household.
The female native doctor was reportedly arrested shortly after the discovery and is currently being detained at the Ogidi Police Division as detectives commence an investigation into the incident.
The remains of the three children have been deposited in a mortuary, while the survivor continues to receive medical care.
The Anambra State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm the identity of the suspect as of Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media showed police officers at the residence following the discovery, while the suspect was escorted away by security operatives for further investigation.
