A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has vowed to institute legal action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over allegations linking his Abuja residence to funds belonging to Rivers State.
George made the declaration during an appearance on TVC News on Wednesday night while reacting to comments made by Wike during a recent media chat in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor had challenged the PDP elder to explain how he acquired a property in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory, alleging that it was purchased with money belonging to Rivers State.
Responding to the allegation, George dismissed the claim as false and insisted that the house was lawfully acquired.
“How was my house in Abuja bought with Rivers funds? I am taking him to court,” he said, while also alleging that Wike was “high on something” when he made the remarks.
The PDP stalwart maintained that he bought the property and did not build it, stressing that he had no connection to Rivers State that would justify the allegation.
“I bought the house and it is still there. Am I from Rivers State that I will go there and collect funds? I am not like him,” he said.
George also launched a personal attack on the minister, claiming that Wike had been disowned by his father.
He urged Nigerians to verify the claim, saying it reflected the minister’s character.
The latest exchange adds to the growing public feud between the two prominent PDP figures, whose political differences have continued to generate sharp verbal exchanges in recent months.
