A woman, identified as Innocent Serah, has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death at Umuokereke Ngwa in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Saturday night, has left residents of the community shocked, as details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged killing remain unclear.
Nwaọjị was said to have been attacked while he was asleep, although the motive for the alleged act had yet to be established as of the time of filing this report.
A resident of the community, David Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said the development had caused considerable concern among residents.
Amaraizu said the couple, who reportedly got married in December 2025, had spent only about eight months together before the tragedy occurred.
“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at a morgue,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, when contacted, said she would respond to inquiries on the incident, but her official reaction was still being awaited.
The latest incident comes months after the police in Abia confirmed the arrest of a woman in Umuahia for allegedly stabbing her husband, an Immigration officer, to death following an alleged dispute over infidelity.
