A 45-year-old man, identified as Mabur Simon, has been killed by suspected assailants in Maori Village, Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 9:20am on Wednesday, according to a military source familiar with the development.
The source disclosed that troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace, were alerted to the attack and immediately mobilised to the community.
Upon arrival, the soldiers reportedly confirmed that Simon had been killed.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear as security operatives have commenced investigations to unravel what led to the attack and identify those responsible.
The military source said troops had also stepped up surveillance in the area to prevent a recurrence and reassure residents of their safety.
“Our personnel are maintaining vigilance in the area to prevent further incidents and reassure residents of their safety,” the source said.
The investigation into the killing is ongoing.
