The campaign organisation of the Accord governorship candidate in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has alleged that there is an attempt to prevent the announcement of the election result by pushing the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare the poll inconclusive.
The allegation was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Imole Campaign Council, Rep. Bamidele Salam.
According to the campaign, the alleged plan was being driven by some governors and senior figures within the All Progressives Congress as part of efforts to frustrate what it described as Adeleke’s expected victory.
Salam condemned the alleged development, urging INEC to remain committed to its pledge to conduct a transparent and credible election and ensure that the votes of Osun residents are respected.
The campaign also called for tighter security around collation centres throughout the state, warning that any attempt to disrupt the process could undermine the credibility of the election.
It specifically appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services and the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to deploy sufficient personnel to the various collation venues.
The campaign further claimed that incidents involving the alleged seizure of ballot boxes had occurred in some polling units, calling for the arrest and prosecution of those behind such acts.
It urged domestic and international observers to closely monitor the collation exercise and draw attention to any development capable of compromising the integrity of the election.
The group also referenced President Bola Tinubu’s call for a credible Osun election, describing the exercise as a significant indicator of the country’s preparedness for the 2027 general elections.
The Adeleke campaign therefore appealed to INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders to protect the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that the final outcome represents the choice of Osun voters.
