State Deputy Governor and Accord Party deputy governorship candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi, in Ile-Ife on Saturday following a confrontation involving supporters of the candidate.
The incident occurred when the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, arrived at Adewusi’s polling unit during the ongoing governorship election.
Adereti had earlier voted at his designated Waasin Polling Unit 11, Ilaare Ward 3, before heading to the polling location of the serving deputy governor.
His arrival reportedly drew resistance from some of Adewusi’s supporters at the venue, triggering a heated exchange and a brief physical confrontation.
The development disrupted voting activities for a short period as supporters traded words and tensions heightened at the polling centre.
Although the reason for Adereti’s visit to the deputy governor’s polling unit was not immediately known, his presence reportedly unsettled some of Adewusi’s supporters and led to the confrontation.
The situation was brought under control as voting continued at the polling location.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from either Adereti or Adewusi on the incident.
