President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House, Abuja, his first appearance at the council meeting since June 29, 2026.
The meeting commenced with the national anthem shortly after Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30pm to lead proceedings.
Those in attendance included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; cabinet ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.
The council observed a minute’s silence in honour of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance during the Ibrahim Babangida administration, who died on July 30, 2026.
Members also paid tribute to Prof Turner Isoun, who served as Minister of Science and Technology under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and died on July 15, 2026.
At its last meeting on June 29, after a break of more than two months, the council witnessed theb swearing-in of two newly appointed Federal Commissioners representing Bauchi and Kaduna states on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The appointees were Amina Gamawa of Bauchi State and Abdullahi Mukhtar of Kaduna State.
