A yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist has died in a lone accident along the Iperu-Sagamu Road in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The crash occurred around 6:20am on Thursday in front of the Federal Government Girls College and involved a red Bajaj motorcycle.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with our correspondent.

Akinbiyi said operatives of TRACE and the police responded to the scene, adding that the circumstances surrounding the crash had yet to be established.

He explained that no other vehicle was involved in the accident and that the deceased was the only occupant of the motorcycle.

According to the traffic agency’s report, “No injured person was recorded, while one person was confirmed dead.”

Akinbiyi added that TRACE operatives and the police evacuated the victim’s remains to the Idera Morgue, Tollgate, Sagamu, while the motorcycle was taken to the police station for further investigation.

He said the accident did not disrupt traffic on the route, noting that motorists continued to have free passage.

The latest incident brings to at least three the number of people reportedly killed in separate road crashes across Ogun State within the past week.

PUNCH Metro reported on Thursday that an unidentified man was crushed to death along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the OPIC corridor after he was allegedly knocked down by a speeding truck.

An eyewitness told our correspondent at the scene that the victim was attempting to cross from the Lagos-bound carriageway towards the roadside around the OPIC area when the truck reportedly struck him.
