Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, have arrested a suspected kidnapper while he was allegedly negotiating ransom with the relatives of his victims in Akure.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Gambo, was reportedly arrested behind Shasha, Akure, after operatives who had been monitoring his activities moved in and apprehended him.

The state commander of the corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Monday while parading 10 suspects arrested for various offences across the state.

Adeleye also disclosed that another suspected kidnapper, 19-year-old Murtala, was arrested in Molege, Owo, with a locally made firearm and other weapons while allegedly attempting to abduct the wife of his former employer.

According to him, Murtala had gained access to the woman’s residence before the operation was foiled after her husband and neighbours raised the alarm and mobilised Amotekun operatives and members of the Fulani community.

The commander said the suspect allegedly confessed to participating in several kidnapping operations, adding that he had also identified the Owo incident as his latest target.

He commended members of the Fulani community for helping security operatives identify suspected criminals within their midst.

Other suspects paraded included alleged motorcycle thieves and burglars, among them Mustafa Aniliasu, who was accused of stealing motorcycles and burgling churches and mosques. Another suspect, Duyilemi, was allegedly posing as an Okada rider before robbing passengers at knifepoint and stealing their motorcycles.

Adeleye said all the suspects, including those arrested over alleged theft of motorcycles, church property, drum sets and household items, would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
