The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for approving the payment of severance allowances to former members of the seventh, eighth and ninth assemblies.
Oladiji also praised the governor for extending the payment to former chairmen and members of the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission.
The Speaker made the commendation in a statement issued in Akure on Monday, describing the gesture as evidence of Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to the welfare of former legislators and other stakeholders who contributed to the development of the state.
He said the governor’s approval would provide deserved support to the beneficiaries after their years of service to the legislature.
Oladiji also commended Aiyedatiwa for approving the recruitment of workers into the Assembly, saying the move would strengthen its workforce, improve efficiency and enhance legislative service delivery.
The Speaker further lauded the governor for his handling of the recent crisis in the Assembly, saying his approach demonstrated a commitment to peace, stability and the effective functioning of the three arms of government.
According to him, the governor’s restraint and wisdom helped preserve the integrity of the state’s democratic institutions while creating an environment conducive to good governance.
Oladiji assured that the Assembly would continue to cooperate with the executive while maintaining its constitutional independence, expressing confidence that a harmonious relationship between both arms would produce more positive outcomes for the people of Ondo State. He thanked Aiyedatiwa for his leadership, understanding and continued support for the Assembly.
