The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested four suspects over the alleged illegal demolition of a classroom at Unguwa Uku Primary School in Tarauni Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were apprehended following a complaint from residents of the community concerning the destruction of the school structure.
The Chairman of the commission, Malam Saidu Yahaya, disclosed this while giving an update on the investigation into the alleged vandalisation of the public facility.
Yahaya said preliminary findings indicated that the school’s head teacher allegedly worked with some members of the School Based Management Committee and the Education Secretary of Tarauni Local Government Area to pull down the classroom.
The suspects were also accused of removing and selling materials recovered from the demolished structure, including iron rods and roofing sheets, without securing the necessary approval from the relevant authorities.
The chairman said the four suspects would be prosecuted after investigators concluded their probe into the matter.
He warned individuals against tampering with public or community property, stressing that the commission would continue to investigate complaints involving the alleged illegal disposal of government assets.
Yahaya urged residents to promptly report suspected cases of vandalisation or unauthorised disposal of public property to the appropriate authorities.
He said such information would assist the commission in taking timely action against individuals found to be involved in the misuse or destruction of public assets.
