A member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Edu State Constituency, Saba Yisa Gideon, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress with immediate effect.
Gideon, who chairs the House Committee on Livestock, announced his resignation in a letter dated August 19, 2026, and addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Tsaragi Ward 3 in Edu Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, titled “Resignation of Membership of the All Progressives Congress,” the lawmaker said he arrived at the decision after extensive consultations with his constituents and other key stakeholders.
He said recent developments within the party, particularly concerns over internal democracy, fairness and inclusiveness, informed his decision to leave the APC.
Gideon stated that his resignation was a carefully considered step following his assessment of the situation within the party.
He, however, assured his constituents that his departure from the APC would not affect his legislative responsibilities or commitment to public service.
The lawmaker pledged to continue representing the people of Edu State Constituency and serving Kwara State and Nigeria with integrity, dedication and accountability.
Gideon also thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve under its platform and appreciated party members and supporters for the backing he received during his time in the party.
