Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman in Kebbi State after disrupting an attempted ransom payment to her abductors.

The operation was carried out on Wednesday, following intelligence that terrorists were preparing to collect ransom for the woman, who was reportedly abducted while working on her farm.

Acting on the information, the troops mobilised to the suspected location of the ransom exchange and moved to intercept the criminals.

The terrorists reportedly engaged the advancing troops but were overwhelmed by the soldiers’ superior firepower.

Unable to withstand the military assault, the criminals fled in disarray, abandoning their hostage.

The troops subsequently rescued the woman, who was said to be unharmed, and evacuated her to safety before reuniting her with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.

After the rescue, the soldiers searched the route used by the fleeing terrorists to ensure that the area was safe and free from potential threats before returning to their base.

In a related operation, the troops also carried out clearance operations and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The patrols were reportedly conducted without any incident.

The latest operation highlights the continued efforts of troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt the activities of terrorists and other criminal groups and prevent them from operating freely across the North-West.
