A former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, South-South, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has died at the age of 64.

Orbih, a former chairman of the PDP in Edo State and a prominent figure in the party, reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026.

The death was announced by the family, with Lere Olayinka, Chief Press Secretary to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, sharing the information on his Facebook page.

According to the family statement, Orbih died after a brief illness, although no details about the circumstances surrounding his death were immediately disclosed.

The statement, issued on behalf of the family by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, described the late politician as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle.

It said, “With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.”

The family disclosed that the deceased is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his siblings and other members of the extended family.

It appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember the family in their prayers as they mourn the loss.

Before his death, Orbih served as Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

He was also known as a close political associate of Wike and remained an influential figure within the PDP, particularly in the South-South region.

Orbih was born on October 27, 1961, in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.

Further details concerning his burial arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
