The Nigerian Air Force has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking enlistment as tradesmen, women and non-tradesmen.

The recruitment portal will open on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and remain accessible to applicants until October 14, 2026, the NAF announced on Wednesday.

The exercise, tagged Basic Military Training Course 47/2026, is open to eligible Nigerians who meet the academic, physical, medical and other requirements stipulated by the service.

In a statement published on its official X handle, the Air Force said the application process was free and urged prospective candidates to study the requirements carefully before submitting their applications.

The NAF said applicants seeking positions as tradesmen or women must be aged between 18 and 27 years by March 1, 2027, while those applying as non-tradesmen or women must be between 18 and 22 years by the same date.

Applicants must be Nigerians by birth and meet the minimum height requirements of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.

They are also expected to be medically, physically and psychologically fit and satisfy the service’s employment and medical standards.

For tradesmen and women, holders of ND or NCE certificates must have obtained their qualifications from accredited institutions and possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.

Candidates applying for driving and other trades requiring Trade Test certification must possess the relevant certificate in addition to meeting the prescribed SSCE requirements. Applicants for driving positions are also required to have valid driving licences.

For non-tradesmen and women, candidates must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in the relevant examinations. They must also possess Primary School Certificates and Secondary School Testimonials.

The Air Force said successful applicants would be required to complete several documents, including an acknowledgement form, parent or guardian consent form and Local Government Area attestation form.

The attestation form may be endorsed by a military officer from the applicant’s state of origin not below the rank of Wing Commander or its equivalent in the Nigerian Army or Navy.

It may also be signed by a police officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or above, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.

The form must be submitted with the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory’s valid driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.

The NAF said successful candidates would be invited for a zonal general aptitude test, with the date to be communicated through the recruitment portal.

It added that only candidates who pass the aptitude test would proceed to the interview stage.

Prospective applicants were directed to use the official NAF recruitment portal for registration and further information.
