A 52-year-old farmer, Ajibade Kehinde, has been found dead on his cocoa farm in Alani Camp, via Supare, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The deceased reportedly left home for the farm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, but did not return as expected, prompting his family and others to raise the alarm.

His body was subsequently discovered along a farm road in the area, leaving residents and members of his family in shock.

A source close to the incident said the farmer might have been attacked by suspected thieves who were allegedly operating in the area.

The source noted that some farm produce were still found at the scene, raising questions about the motive of the attackers and whether they were able to make away with anything.

Following the discovery, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the scene and took the deceased to Iwaro General Hospital, where a doctor certified him dead.

His remains were later deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy as detectives commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, saying the command was investigating the case to determine what happened and track down those behind the death.

Jimoh assured the public that the police would deploy all necessary measures to unravel the circumstances of the incident and ensure that anyone found responsible faces justice.
