Nigerian woman missing after arriving in Doha, family raises alarm

A Nigerian woman who travelled from Lagos to Doha, Qatar, has reportedly become unreachable for more than 48 hours after arriving in the country, leaving her family deeply worried.

The 37 year old woman travelled aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1408 from Lagos International Airport to Doha on Tuesday.

Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, raised the alarm in a post on X, saying the family last spoke with her while she was still on the aircraft through WhatsApp, using the flight’s Wi Fi service.

Jibo said the flight arrived safely in Doha and that arrangements had been made for someone to receive his sister at the airport.

However, according to him, she did not meet the person who had gone to pick her up.

Concerned by her disappearance, the family reportedly contacted the airport authorities and the airline to establish her whereabouts.

The brother said they were informed that she had collected her luggage, but her continued inability to communicate with the family had heightened concerns over her safety.

He explained that the woman was familiar with airport procedures, having worked at Lagos Airport for nearly 12 years, making the circumstances surrounding her disappearance particularly worrying.

Jibo added that the trip was her first time travelling abroad and that she had no friends or known associates in Qatar.

He said she had also made arrangements for accommodation and other aspects of her stay months before travelling and was expected to begin work in Doha a few weeks after her arrival.

Another X user, identified by the handle @digitalWorldB, reportedly drew the attention of the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, to the case.

As of the time of filing the report, the circumstances surrounding the woman’s whereabouts remained unclear, while efforts by her family and relevant authorities to establish her location continued.
