Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 42-year-old farmer, Ganiu Agbajo, over the alleged defilement of a 12-year-old girl in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
Agbajo was arrested following a complaint lodged by residents after the girl reportedly raised an alarm while returning home on September 7, 2026.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the State Commander of the corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, on Thursday.
The statement said the girl, whose identity was withheld, reportedly told her mother that she had been sexually assaulted by a man.
The mother was said to have alerted members of the community, who subsequently contacted the So-Safe Corps over the incident.
Following the report, operatives moved to the suspect’s residence at Hassan Compound, Igbokulu, Ita-Egbe, in the Ipokia area, where he was arrested.
During preliminary interrogation, Agbajo reportedly admitted to the allegation and told the operatives that the incident occurred on his farmland at Ojugo, Ita-Egbe.
Ganzallo commended the residents for their swift response, stressing the importance of promptly reporting suspected criminal activities to security agencies.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report unlawful or suspicious acts to the appropriate authorities.
The corps said the suspect had been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
