Troops have a kidnapped couple after engaging their abductors in a gun battle in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims, identified as Hassan Isah and his wife, Juliana Hassan, were rescued after troops of Operation Enduring Peace responded to reports of their abduction in Ateli village.
The incident occurred around 12:30am on Friday, September 11, 2026, when troops deployed at Mayir Garrison, supported by local vigilantes, launched an operation to track the fleeing kidnappers.
The security team later caught up with the abductors, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the troops and the bandits.
During the confrontation, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned the couple and fled into the surrounding area.
The development enabled the troops to safely evacuate the victims from the scene and bring them to safety.
However, Isah sustained injuries during the encounter and was subsequently taken to the General Hospital, Wamba, for medical treatment.
The rescue was disclosed by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who reported that the troops had successfully recovered the couple from their abductors.
Following the encounter, security personnel commenced efforts to locate and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.
Troops have also remained in the area to prevent further attacks and maintain security in the affected community.
