Residents of Pankshin in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into panic on Tuesday after the body of an unidentified man was discovered behind the Monday Market.

The corpse was reportedly found in the early hours of the day, with some parts of the deceased’s body allegedly removed, leaving residents shocked and apprehensive.

Residents who spoke about the incident said the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death were yet to be established.

A resident, Johnson Dawul, said the discovery came as a shock to the community, adding that some parts of the man’s body, including his penis, had been cut off.

Another resident said nobody in the area appeared to know the deceased or what led to his death.

He said residents alerted security personnel immediately after discovering the corpse, prompting operatives to arrive at the scene and evacuate the remains.

The incident has heightened concerns in the community as residents await details from security agencies on the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The remains were subsequently taken away by security operatives, while investigations were said to have commenced to establish the identity of the deceased and determine those behind his death.

As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, had yet to respond to enquiries about the incident.
