Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged killing and robbery of a family of six at Oloba village in the Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of the community, were allegedly involved in the attack on the family of Ifeanyi Chukwu on September 22, 2026.

According to the police, the suspects invaded the family’s residence armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club.

The assailants allegedly stole N200,000, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine fitted with a chainsaw and a spraying machine during the operation.

The police alleged that Akinbami shot Chukwu, while Ojo and Edward attacked his wife and struck her on the head.

The suspects were also accused of tying two of the children by their hands and legs before throwing them into a nearby river, while the other members of the family were allegedly killed and their bodies dumped in the river.

The command said detectives commenced investigation after receiving credible intelligence about the incident on October 2, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

The suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation, while the police recovered the family’s Boxer motorcycle, one locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and the club allegedly used in the attack.

The remains of Chukwu’s wife have since been recovered, while the police said efforts were ongoing to locate the remains of the other victims.

The suspects and the case file are expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, ordered a thorough investigation into the case and assured that anyone found culpable would face the law.
