Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as Pastor Kenny, over alleged fraud involving 18 fellowship members in Saje, Adatan.
Makinde was accused of collecting about N2.5m from the fellowship members after allegedly deceiving them with a promise to arrange a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The suspect was also alleged to have promised each of the victims N2m under the purported arrangement.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.
According to the PPRO, detectives attached to the Obantoko Division arrested Makinde at about 4:45pm on August 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, following four months of intelligence gathering and discreet investigation.
Babaseyi said the investigation was initiated over allegations that the suspect had been manipulating unsuspecting individuals under the guise of conducting spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.
He stated, “Following four months of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation, detectives attached to the Obantoko Division, on August 3, 2026, at about 4:45pm, arrested Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as Pastor Kenny, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“The arrest followed investigations into allegations that the suspect fraudulently manipulated unsuspecting victims under the guise of spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.
“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect allegedly obtained approximately N2.5m from 18 fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the false pretence of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem and promising each member N2m.”
The police spokesman added that Makinde remained in custody as detectives intensified efforts to uncover more victims and track down his alleged accomplices.
The command urged anyone who might have fallen victim to the suspect’s alleged activities to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.
