Voting was disrupted at a polling unit in Ejigbo, Osun State, on Saturday after violence reportedly erupted during the ongoing governorship election.

A video from the scene showed voters, residents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission fleeing the area as tension mounted.

The footage captured people running in different directions and abandoning the polling area as they sought safety.

Motorcycles and vehicles were also seen moving through the area amid the confusion, while those at the polling location attempted to escape the unfolding disturbance.

The development temporarily halted electoral activities at the affected location, with INEC officials reportedly leaving the area.

The immediate cause of the violence was not known as of the time of filing this report.

It was also unclear whether anyone was injured or whether property was damaged in the incident.
