A Lagos-based hairstylist, identified simply as Elvis, has been killed by suspected armed robbers around Alesh Market in the Ajah area of the state.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening when the victim was returning from work.

It was gathered that the suspected robbers attacked people around the market and dispossessed several victims of their valuables.

Elvis was said to have resisted the robbers, who allegedly shot him in the head before fleeing the scene.

A police source, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said the victim was on his way home from work when he was attacked.

The source said, “A report was made that he was returning from his place of work when the robbers attacked him. He resisted and was shot in the head.

Efforts are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and apprehend the perpetrators.”

The source added that the assailants also robbed other passersby during the attack, taking away their belongings.

A resident of the area expressed concern over the rising cases of robbery and harassment around the market, calling for increased police presence, particularly at night.

The resident said residents had become increasingly apprehensive over their safety, noting that repeated attacks were causing fear in the community.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident when contacted on Tuesday.

She said, “Confirmed. No suspect yet. Investigation is ongoing.”
