A 49-year-old security guard, Oladapo Felix, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly shooting a resident of Zion Estate in the Akobo area of Ibadan.
The incident occurred at Zion Estate, Yakoya area of Elewuro, Akobo, Ibadan, where the suspect was reportedly on duty as a security guard.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed the arrest in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the victim told the police that he identified himself as a resident of the house but was allegedly shot by Felix.
Following the report, operatives from the Akobo Divisional Police Headquarters visited the scene and arrested the security guard.
The police also said four locally made single barrel guns and a machete were recovered from the suspect’s duty post.
The victim was rushed to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding to medical attention.
Ayanlade said detectives had commenced investigation to establish what happened immediately before the shooting and the circumstances that led to the use of the firearm.
The police spokesman added that investigators were working to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident as the investigation continued.
