Enwere urges NANS factional leader to apologise to Seyi Tinubu over kidnap allegations

Abelusochukwu Enwere, National Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has called on Atiku Isah, a factional leader of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), to publicly apologise to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, over what he described as false allegations of kidnapping and violence.

The call follows claims by Isah that Seyi Tinubu was behind the disturbances at the recent NANS convention in Abuja—allegedly to influence the emergence of Comrade Olushola Oladoja as a factional national president.

Enwere dismissed the accusations as baseless and harmful, especially at a time when national efforts to combat insecurity are ongoing.

“It is disheartening to see individuals spreading falsehoods for political purposes,” Enwere said in a statement issued Tuesday.

“We must remain united in the face of our common challenges and support efforts to restore peace and stability in the country.”

Enwere defended Seyi Tinubu’s character, describing him as a law-abiding citizen despite being the son of the president.

He also urged the nation’s security agencies to act swiftly by investigating the matter and holding Isah accountable for his statements.

“I call on the security agencies to arrest Atiku Isah for making unsubstantiated and damaging allegations against Seyi Tinubu,” Enwere stated.

Seyi Tinubu has denied any involvement in the NANS convention fracas and reaffirmed his commitment to the rule of law.

Enwere concluded by urging political actors to avoid divisive tactics and instead engage in constructive dialogue for the benefit of national stability.

The controversy stems from the disputed NANS convention in Abuja, where Oladoja was declared the elected president.

Isah, who reportedly did not take part in the election, later declared himself NANS president and accused Tinubu of meddling in the process.
