We were never married, Regina Daniels tells Ned Nwoko

Popular actress Regina Daniels has dismissed claims that she is legally married to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, insisting that their union has no legal backing.

In a statement released via Instagram on Sunday, the Nollywood star urged the Delta North lawmaker to “leave her alone,” accusing him of attempting to isolate her from family and friends.

“Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us?” she wrote. “The moment we had a fight, you rushed to the public shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs’ because you knew it would make a perfect story to distract everyone from the real issue.”

Daniels alleged that Nwoko had a pattern of using the police to harass and intimidate those close to her, saying his aim was to leave her “completely isolated and broken.”

She also claimed that her phones were seized for weeks to prevent her from contacting her family, and that she was often locked up and described as “mentally unstable” whenever she attempted to leave.

“Every problem we have had started when I no longer wanted you,” she said. “And for the record, I would have filed for divorce long ago if there was ever a legal marriage between us.

We were never married in any court of law, and no documents were signed. Leave me alone, Ned. Marriage is not by force.”

Her statement comes days after a viral video showed her in tears, lamenting alleged violence and emotional distress in the relationship.

The controversy follows the arrest of the actress’s brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, who was charged in court on November 6 for alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, intimidation, assault, and theft.

He was remanded pending fulfillment of his bail conditions after Nwoko filed a petition against him.

Senator Nwoko has since denied the actress’s claims, attributing her recent outbursts to “drug and alcohol abuse” and insisting that she needs rehabilitation.
